During WWII a women called Denise Weston Austin rescued a baby elephant from Belfast Zoo. The R.U.C. had shot dead 23 animals in the zoo because they were afraid that when the bombs fell, some of the most dangerous animals in the zoo might escape. The elephant’s name was Sheila and she was very lucky to go to Whitewell Road every day.
I am one very proud teacher. A fantastic story about a kind woman in Belfast, written by an awesome student. #awesome

That's a brilliant story Aoife! It's a pretty big elephant I can't imagine how she kept him in her back garden! She would have needed lots of bananas too. Can't wait for the next story.
